Trash,
A great battery to buy if you like getting stranded in the middle of nowhere. After only 5 months of use, and that includes the winter months, it appears that this battery developed an internal short. You’re riding along and all of a sudden there’s no power to anything. The engine shuts off, the speedometer goes to zero, and the GPS I had connected directly to the battery terminals switches over to internal battery power. I’m almost 300 miles from home and in another state. I was lucky to be riding with a friend so I only had to sit on the side of the road for 3 hours while he made the trip to the nearest Harley dealer to buy me a new battery. ($179 from Harley – ouch, but cheaper in the long run than this pos.) Even luckier – my charging system didn’t get fried so installing the new HD battery was all that was needed.
The battery was not mistreated. The bike’s connected to a Battery Tender every time I pull it into the garage. It’s also mounted in a RoadKing, not in a hardtail frame, so the vibration and shock should be minimal for what a motorcycle battery should be expected to experience. I normally get more than 4 or 5 years from a battery, replacing them because of their age not because they died, especially after only 5 months.
I would have rated this battery zero stars instead of one if that option was available because I’ll never buy another Yuasa battery again. In the past, I’ve always purchased batteries from Harley or from Interstate. I’m going back to that.
